You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Add extra data fields

When we have a multiple component, multiple server application, it would be nice to add extra data fields to the events.

Right now, we can use Source=our component, but it would be nice to be able to add extra data fields such as "server=abc", etc.

    • Allow an admin to define alerts for other users

Make it easy for an admin to share a log then setup/manage alerts for those users. Currently an admin needs to sign in as those accounts to define their alerts.

      • Ability to assign event to user (e.g. assign bug to user)

When an (error) event comes into the console, it would be good to assign that event to a user so they know someone is dealing with it. Also have the ability to mark it "Addressed & Archived" when a bug has been fixed.

I know this is edging on bug tracking but this is a central console where errors are present so it would be good to have the ability to assign them or integrate with bug tracking software.

        • Automatically log IP for geo coding

To get the public IP of a client, I have to call a web service which responds with the public IP address.

Your service should not require loggers to get the IP for geo coding, you can automatically get the IP of a logged event when the request is posted to your service.

          • Whitelist for write access

Allow me to specify a whitelist of IP addresses / domains that can write to my log. This way, you can reject events from places not on the whitelist.

Right now, anyone can read my Javascript source, get my write-only access key, and spoof events to the log using their own machine.

Please allow us to opt out of retrieving images from Gravatar for logged email addresses. I would like to limit the exposure of my user list to just loggr.net.

              • Event sharing

My colleague is remote so if I need him to work on a specific event/error, there's no way for me to send it to him (other than taking a screenshot, yikes!).

It would be very useful to be able to send a specific event to another user, preferably with a note.

Otherwise, you can provide us with a permalink to an event, and we can paste that into an email.

                  • Duplicate Log

It would be nice to duplicate a log. This is helpful for when one would want to have the same log (with same classes and settings) for different server environments (development, qa, staging, production, etc...).

                    • Don't continue displaying help info after creating new log

It gets annoying after creating N number of logs to keep getting the help info popup after creating a new Log. The user should be able to disable this for subsequently created logs. However, the user should still be able to access this help info just in case.

                      • Share classes across multiple logs

I find myself constantly creating the same classes with the same colors for different logs. I would be cool to select from pre-existing classes you defined in other logs.

                        • .NET Documentation + NuGet contain errors

                          See:
                          http://docs.loggr.net/agents/dotnet#Posting%20Events
                          Line:
                          <section name="log" type="System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler"></section>

                          Should instead read:
                          <section name="log" type="System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" />

                          (Version Dependent)

                          Reason:
                          NameValueSectionHandler is defined in System.dll

Using the current documentation/nuget, loggr-dotnet will cause an exception.

                          ====
                          Also:
NuGet installer will have to be modified to write to app.config correctly

                          • Be able to archive events (and other data) to S3 or comparable service.

When the plan's retention period is reached, instead of deleting old events, have the ability to store in a customer's S3 account.

                            • Count bubble changes colors

Specifically for the User's tab, if any users are active, the bubble is green; if all users are idle, the bubble is the bluish color it is now. This could also be a setting.

                              • "Eventize" the Users Tab

Show users all the time in the Users tab, and when calling trackUser, allow for other data points to be tracked. For example, when a new user comes in I'd like to be able to give them tags. Some useful tags could be "admin", "super", "normal", "new", etc. By "eventize", I mean Users could get most of the reasonable features that events have so that when they are displayed all the time, they'd be easily searchable and sortable.

                                • Don't expose access keys in user logs api

The loggr access key is out in the open.
Definitely this should not be the same as our "usual" access key.
Even better would be some time-restricted access key which we could request server-to-server. That way, if someone tries to abuse it, atleast they have a limited window of opportunity.
